Polish Meteorite Service - Summary.

Meteorites are becoming more and more popular among astronomy and geology fans. Since early 90-ties there has been growing interest in them in Poland. During that time over 100 private collections originated, a few books and many articles were published. Museums and universities also showed interest, organizing exhibitions. Each year almost 50 mineral shows and exhibitions take place and at most of them you can encounter or buy meteorites. The biggest collectors' shows are in Warszawa, Krakow, Lodz and Sosnowiec. Quarterly magazine "Meteoryt" for collectors and meteorite fans has been published since 1992. Polish Meteorite Service web page exists since 1999 and contains basic useful information about meteorites - their nature, types, identification. Collectors' interest news are included such as info about exhibits, meetings, search expeditions as well as advice for buyers. Polish Meteorite Service is the biggest and greatest polish web page concerning the subject. Poland has been a place of landing of some big and famous meteor showers - Pultusk, Lowicz and Morasko.
